About North Park

North Park is located in the heart of San Diego, just east of Balboa Park. An older community, North Park has been undergoing a renaissance since 1993. New sidewalks, landscaping and an influx of arts, culture and entertainment make North Park worth a visit. North Park has a definite downtown area where you can find the large North Park sign which is a replica of the original sign. The revitalization has brought many boutiques (Kate Ross Clothing, Mimi & Red), restaurants (Alexander’s, Urban Solace, The Linkery, Hawthorn’s, Lefty’s), bars/clubs (Air Conditioned, U-31, Pink Elephant, Bluefoot) and coffee shops (Claire de Lune, Starbucks, Caffé Calabria). Of course, these are only a few of the fine establishments in North Park.

Once a month on Saturday evenings, you can head down to Ray Street for Ray at Night to visit the art galleries and see some of the dance or music recitals. The Farmers Market which features local produce, food and crafts is hosted every Thursday from 3:00 pm to sunset on University Ave. Be sure to visit the gorgeous Birch North Park Theatre that is operated by the Lyric Opera San Diego for ballet, opera or movie performance. Many of the improvements in North Park are due to the efforts of North Park Main Street, a volunteer based business dedicated to the revitalization of the North Park neighborhood in San Diego.

There are many sub-neighborhoods of North Park including Burlingame (historic homes), Altadena (south North Park) and Morley Field. Overall, a commute is made easy as North Park is right near the 805, which is accessible from University Avenue and El Cajon Blvd.

When the market was hot, North Park's price is dramatically rose upward. Things have settled down, and now you can find your dream home and North Park for a fraction of the price. If you are looking for North Park real estate or beautiful North Park homes for sale you are at the right website. North Park Sign

North Park is located in the heart of San Diego, just north of Balboa Park. An older community, North Park has been undergoing a renaissance since 1993. New sidewalks, landscaping and an influx of arts, culture and entertainment make North Park worth a visit.

RENOVATION
North Park is experiencing a renaissance. After many years of disinvestment, North Park has become a premier location for homebuyers and businesses alike. This is due to a number of factors, including North Park’s central location and proximity to downtown coupled with numerous regional conditions such as worsening traffic, sprawl, and overall market conditions. As a result of these factors, North Park has recently experienced a significant influx of development interest, especially within its downtown area. The community has already approved a number of significant proposals that will transform the fabric of downtown North Park. Among those proposals are:

North Park Theatre
Located between 29th and 30th Streets on University Avenue, the historic North Park Theatre is realizing its former glory as a regional destination for live theater. In October 2005 the North Park Theatre reopened its doors for the first time in two decades.

North Park Theatre Parking Structure
Across the street from the North Park Theatre, a four deck parking and retail structure will be constructed. The facility is proposed to integrate a highly flexible arts feature that allows original art to be displayed on the façade. The creative design will complement the burgeoning arts and culture center in downtown North Park.

La Boheme (North Park) Condominiums
Located at 30th Street, Lincoln Avenue, & Ohio Street, the North Park Condominium project will be the largest development to be built in North Park in generations. Western Pacific Housing, a subsidiary of D.R. Horton, the nation’s largest homebuilder, has submitted plans for a mixed-use project that would include over 200 residential units and 15,000 square feet of retail space.

Walgreens and San Diego National Bank Building
Parking Garage
At 32nd Street and University Avenue, the two projects are being built adjacent to one another. The complex will consist of a one-story Walgreens Drug Store with adjacent additional retail space, an adjacent parking lot to the east, and a two-deck parking structure behind the bank. Construction on the parking garage began in October 2004. The actual Walgreens building will break ground in early 2006.

North Park Library
North Park has been approved for a 25,000-square-foot flagship library. The Library Task Force has recommended locating the library at the corner of 31st Street and University Avenue. This is the location of the former Drowsy Maggie's coffee house.

With so many exciting projects already moving forward, the community of North Park is highly aware that a renaissance is occurring within our neighborhood. We also realize that with development comes opportunity to receive improvements in public facilities and infrastructure.

Craftsman homes and friendly neighbors make North Park a place you may also want to live.

Real Estate Tips
Selling Your Home >Selling the Details

It is the little things--both positive and negative--that can make a big difference to prospective buyers. Pay close attention to detail when you prepare your home to sell.

Before you list your home, go through the house with a careful eye. Fix any loose door knobs, popped screen doors, and loose grout around the tub and shower. A coat of fresh paint can work wonders to dress up a house. Wash the windows, hang a healthy plant from the bathroom skylight, and clean out the closets. Arrange the furniture to make the room look larger. If the rooms look cluttered, put your extra furniture into storage. You can brighten up a room by increasing the wattage of the light bulbs.

Going the extra mile to showcase your home will pay significant dividends when it's time to show it to buyers.
